A DIFFERENT WAY TO DISCOVER

Let the place
lead the conversation.

Choose an experience to see how Nautilus approaches it. These illustrated examples explain the product; they do not make a live AI request or track your location.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXPERIENCE✧

A waterfront becomes a window into the past.

Choose a place, ask a question, and look at it through a historical or contemporary guide perspective.

“What shaped the waterfront we see today?”

In the Android beta: type or speak a question. Gemini answers need your configured key and Internet access. Search-grounded research is a separate opt-in.

  • Windows 10/11 · x64 PC
  • Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime required
  • Portable EXE · no Android emulator
  • Local tours, favorites, notes and photo import

Chromebook: some models support Android apps, but this APK is not a verified Chromebook release. The Windows application is a separate download.

WINDOWS x64 · EXPERIMENTAL BETA

Nautilus for Windows

Windows 0.1.07.3 MiB

Personal-guide desktop beta with tour editing, saved memories, voice controls and an optional Gemini connection. Windows device acceptance remains pending.

Download Windows EXE ↓Download ZIP with setup guide ↗

Unsigned experimental build. Windows may warn or block the file. Requires WebView2; get the runtime from Microsoft if needed.

What has been checked?

Windows x64 compilation, executable structure, embedded files, interface review and automated connection/error tests. Launching on Windows, live Gemini, file exports, camera, microphone, speech and location still need real-device verification. Laptop location may be too imprecise for arrival triggers.

Privacy and offline use

Local samples, tours and memories work without Gemini. The key stays in memory for the current session. Live AI needs Internet and your own Google access. There is no automatic Android sync.

A LITTLE PREPARATION

From download
to discovery.

  1. 01

    Install the beta

On Windows, open the EXE; see its setup guide and WebView2 requirement above. On Android, open the APK. Allow installation from the browser or file app only when Android asks. Prefer an update to preserve local data. If installation fails, keep your working app and report the exact message.

  2. 02

    Choose your connection

Explore local samples first, or connect your own Gemini key in Profile. Test basic chat separately from optional Search. Google access, quotas and charges depend on your account.

  3. 03

    Make your first short trip

Confirm real stop coordinates, allow location, and keep the app in the foreground. Try a short walking route before relying on trip playback. This is an interpretive guide, not navigation equipment.

BEFORE YOU GO

A few good questions.

Is there a standalone Windows version?

Yes. Download the experimental Windows x64 EXE above. It opens its own desktop window using Microsoft WebView2. Windows device verification is pending; this is an unsigned beta. It does not require an Android emulator.

Does Nautilus work on a Chromebook?

Some Chromebooks support Android apps, but device support and APK installation vary. Nautilus is not yet verified on a Chromebook and is not listed here as a separate Chromebook release.

Does Nautilus work offline?

Saved/local material and saved narration can be used without Gemini. AI questions and live research need connectivity. Nautilus does not provide full offline maps or a complete offline AI service.

Is the guide a live animated avatar?

The current Android beta uses a static illustrated guide. Speech recognition, AI text generation and Android text-to-speech are separate stages. Continuous Gemini Live audio/video and an animated avatar are not implemented.

What stays on my phone?

Saved text, tours, stop pins and resized photos are stored locally. The app’s connection key is stored using Android’s encrypted key storage. AI requests go to Google; Search and location context require their respective settings and permissions. There is no cloud sync. Text export excludes photos and exact stop coordinates and is not a full backup. Uninstalling removes local app data.

Can I use it while driving or navigating a boat?

Road-trip interaction is for passengers. Nautilus does not replace navigation, a lookout, required crew, or emergency judgment. GPS narration in this beta runs only in the foreground; locking the phone or leaving the app pauses the trip.

Does downloading include unlimited AI?

No. Nautilus does not include a shared AI subscription or unlimited requests. You configure your own Gemini account. Available models, quotas, Search access and any charges are determined by Google and your account settings.

What changed in 0.3.1?

The release adds clearer status labels, manual retry with cooldown protection, answer-specific source information, replay without another AI request, and Android voice choices. The package identifies itself as version 0.3.1, version code 7. Its supplied notes state that its certificate matches 0.3.0; phone updating still needs confirmation.
