NAUTILUS 0.3.1 — UPDATE TO YOUR INSTALLED 3.0 BETA October 15, 2026 INSTALL ON YOUR PHONE 1. Download Nautilus_Android_0.3.1.apk. 2. Open it and choose Update/Install in Android. 3. Open Nautilus. Guide and Profile show the new connection status. Do not uninstall the working app or run the clean-install utility. This APK has the same package ID and signing certificate as 0.3.0, with a higher version code. Android should retain your local data and Gemini key during the update. An actual in-place update on your phone has not been tested here. WHAT CHANGED - Gemini connected, temporarily busy, quota limit, access error and network interruption use distinct status labels. A 503 preserves prior successful connection verification; it does not falsely call the API key invalid. - Failed requests have a Retry previous request button. The existing cooldown is respected and rapid duplicate submissions remain blocked. Retrying does not duplicate the question in chat. Retry is manual; no automatic requests or automatic model changes are introduced. - Gemini connection, GPS and web research are described separately. - Each answer labels whether web sources were returned, Search was requested without citations, or no web search was requested. Each answer has its own Sources button. Source links are evidence of returned citations, not a guarantee that every generated sentence is correct. - Replay latest answer does not send a new Google request. - Voice options in Guide and Profile list available Android English voices, identify network/on-device voices, preview the voice and save speech rate. Available voice quality depends on your phone and speech engine. This is not a replacement cloud speech service or continuous Gemini Live audio. - Changing guide perspective explains that it applies to the next question. Replies keep the perspective selected when the request was sent. - Explicitly named destinations take priority over physical GPS in the guide instructions. This is a model instruction, not deterministic place matching. - Help and research messages no longer imply that a connected Gemini answer necessarily used web search. SEARCH AND FREE-TIER USE Basic chat does not require Search. Research around me and AI tour curation still require Search enabled in Profile and supported by your Google project. This update does not provide a new research service or bypass Google's access, quota or billing rules. Sample packs are optional; Gemini can answer questions about other places using its model knowledge. Inspect each answer's sources. TESTS COMPLETED 54 simulated app regression checks passed, including eight new update checks. 8 real Java HTTP transport fixture checks passed (local test server). APK compiled against Android API 36; min Android API 26. APK v2 and v3 signatures verified. Signing certificate matches 0.3.0. Package org.nautilus.personalguide; versionName 0.3.1; versionCode 7. LIMITS No physical-phone test, visual/device accessibility acceptance or live Gemini request was performed for this update. Voice availability and actual narration quality need phone testing. Tour/GPS arrival, permissions and interrupted trips need further device testing before broad public distribution. Google can still return 503 errors during demand spikes. This remains a personal-key beta. SOURCE ARCHIVE The accompanying source ZIP contains the updated source, build script, tests and these notes. Build requires JDK 17, Android SDK platform 36 and build-tools 36.0.0. Set SDK_ROOT and NAUTILUS_JDK before running build.sh. The script outputs an unsigned APK. Private signing materials and API keys are not included. Older 0.3.0 review documents in source are historical; these notes and REGRESSION_03_RESULTS.json describe the 0.3.1 changes and simulated results.
