NAUTILUS — YOUR PERSONAL GUIDE, ANYWHERE
Windows experimental beta 0.1.0 | October 22, 2026

GET STARTED
1. Download Nautilus_Windows_0.1.0_x64.exe, or extract the ZIP first.
2. Open the EXE. It creates its own desktop application window.
3. Windows 10/11, x64, and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime are required.
This application does not require Chrome, an Android emulator, Python,
a developer account, or a Nautilus website connection to open.
4. If WebView2 is missing, install the Evergreen Runtime from Microsoft:
   https://developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge/webview2/
The application checks for this component before creating its window.
5. This beta is unsigned. Windows/browser download protection may warn or
block it. A signed production installer is not included. Do not disable
your security software. The published SHA-256 identifies the file but
does not replace a publisher certificate or an antivirus assessment.

FIRST VISIT
Start with Home, Explore, saved tours, Favorites and Memories. Local
samples and tour playback do not require a Gemini key or Internet.
Open Profile > Connect Gemini for optional live AI. Enter your own API key,
use Available models to choose a generation-capable model, then Test
connection. The key is kept in memory only; enter it again after closing
or reloading. Your Google account determines model access, quotas and
charges. Search is a separate opt-in. Read the sources for each answer.

WHAT IS INCLUDED
- Nautilus desktop interface and supplied illustrated guide artwork.
- Sample place collections; contemporary and historical guide perspectives.
- Local tour creation/editing, favorites, observations and photo import.
- Timed playback and foreground arrival triggers using manually pinned stops.
- Gemini connection, model list, optional Google Search grounding,
cancellation, explicit retry and quota status.
- System narration/voice selection; camera and microphone where supported.
- Text-summary export (photos and exact coordinates are excluded).

DEVICE LIMITS
This is a cross-compiled experimental Windows x64 build, not a Windows-
certified or Windows-device-tested production release. Browser interface,
unit tests and executable format were checked. Windows launch, file-save
behavior, live Google access, camera, microphone, speech and location
need confirmation on real Windows hardware. Voice input may not be
available in WebView2: type questions when needed. Laptop location may
not be accurate enough to trigger a 25–500 m stop. Keep the app visible
and prevent sleep during trips. Hiding the app pauses active GPS trips.
No background GPS, turn-by-turn navigation, live animated avatar, cloud
sync or guaranteed accessibility is provided.

STORAGE AND PRIVACY
Tours, photos, messages and preferences stay in this app's WebView2
profile under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Nautilus\WindowsBeta. That profile is
separate from Android; there is no automatic transfer or cloud sync.
Clearing local data removes saved app content; text export is not a
full backup. The Gemini key is not persisted. AI questions, selected
conversation context and optional approximate location are sent directly
to Google over HTTPS. Device speech services may process spoken input.
The app serves embedded assets only on 127.0.0.1:18763, not your network.
It stops its local server when the desktop window closes. Only one
instance can use that port at a time. No updater or background service
is installed. Remove the EXE to remove the application; its local data
folder remains until you delete it or clear app data.

VERSION NOTES
This Windows beta ports the supplied Android 0.3.1 application interface
into a Windows WebView2 host with Windows-specific capability adapters.
Windows version numbering begins separately at 0.1.0. No Chromebook
compatibility or Android APK acceptance is certified by this build.

Third-party notices are included in the ZIP and embedded application.
